Darrell Fraser

Co-founder

Darrell is a Métis entrepreneur focused on the intersection of AI, language revitalization, and data sovereignty. To Darrell, Sovereign AI means ensuring our communities have agency over how their languages and knowledge are represented in technological systems.

Ali Lang

Co-founder

Ali is a strategist who develops frameworks to operationalize Indigenous strategy and data sovereignty within the digital product lifecycle. For Ali, Sovereign AI means building infrastructure that empowers communities to own their data and assert their digital rights.

Jasmine Spence

Co-founder

Jasmine is the Founding Executive Director of AI Anima, an initiative building language models that communicate in Cree to support the continuity of our worldview. To Jasmine, Sovereign AI means ensuring our languages are at the heart of the technological future.

Corrine Hunt

Co-founder

Corrine leverages her lived experience and extensive public service background to ensure digital initiatives are grounded in respect and safety. For Corrine, Sovereign AI means applying our protocols to technological tools so they actively support Indigenous self-determination.

003 — The land we work on

We work on shared land, with permission and respect.

We acknowledge that Portage operates on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We honor and respect the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples on this land.
